job summarythe cnc machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, programming, and maintaining cnc machines to produce precision parts and components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to maintain quality and efficiency standards.
key responsibilities- set up and operate cnc mills, lathes, and other precision machining equipment
- program cnc machines using g-code for variety of parts
- accurately interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
- select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters
- monitor machine performance and adjust settings as needed
- inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- maintain dimensional accuracy and quality standards
- perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues
- document production data and maintain accurate records
- follow all safety procedures and company policies
- high school diploma or ged (technical certification preferred)
- 2+ years of cnc machining experience
- strong knowledge of machining processes and materials
- proficiency with measuring instruments and inspection tools
- experience with cad/cam software
- knowledge of g-code programming
- experience with multi-axis machining
- strong attention to detail
- problem-solving ability
- mechanical aptitude
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- strong commitment to quality and safety
- ability to stand for extended periods
- lift up to 50 lbs
- frequent bending, reaching, and manual dexterity
- exposure to shop environment (noise, coolant, metal chips)
