Responsibilities

  • Lives the Owens Corning Safer Together initiative and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment. Performs all functions of the job in a safe manner and promptly reports any unsafe behaviors to the shift supervisor.
  • Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, etc.
  • Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
  • Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations.
  • Performs heavy cleanup duties at workstations and/or equipment/machinery.
  • Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel.
  • Operates forklift. Performs operator inspection of forklift on each shift; checks fluid levels and various forklift component systems for malfunctions and reports problems. Completes daily vehicle inspection forms.
  • Operates track mobile to position rail cars as directed. Performs operator inspection of track mobile on each shift; checks fluid levels and various track mobile component systems for malfunctions and reports problems. Completes daily vehicle inspection forms.
  • Acts as spotter for track mobile in the RMC area.
  • Operates sweeper, pallet flipper, and bundle assist.
  • Transports finished goods to designated area in warehouse and/or loads directly onto truck per specific instructions.
  • Utilizes IVC computer system to perform all goods movements.
  • Participates in the safety and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant, including disposing of waste to dumpsters.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate.
  • Understands the needs of the customer and takes action to address those needs.
  • Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities, and develops expertise in those areas.
  • Ensures standard operating procedures and processes are in place.
  • Performs other warehouse/shipping related duties consistent with the nature of this position, as directed by the area leader.
Job Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US.
  • Must remain drug and alcohol free.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must read, write and speak English.
  • Must understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must multi-task.
  • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must be self‑motivated to work independently and in a group, and meet targets.
  • Must perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures (both hot and cold; plant is not climate controlled).
  • Must train and coach others.
  • Must have strong process acumen.
  • Must work a flexible schedule that meets business needs. This includes but is not limited to loading and unloading all daily shipments and deliveries, meeting goals of dwell time, etc.
  • Must be able to work shifts up to 16 hours in duration.
  • Must operate necessary software to successfully perform job responsibilities.
  • Must be able to think and work under pressure and analyze information to identify solutions.
  • Must have and execute with a sense of urgency.
Additional Required Training
  • Use IVC System to ship/receive and store products.
  • Log on to company computer system.
  • Check, create and reply to e‑mail.
  • All annual safety and role‑specific training, as required by the nature of this position.
