Savannah Tank & Equipment Corp is a dedicated ASME code shop. For more than 30 years, we’ve built ASME Section VIII pressure vessels, API 650 storage tanks, and modular process equipment for leading companies in demanding industries—including chemical processing, water treatment, energy, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals. Our welds get x‑rayed, our vessels get stamped, and our customers come back. Recent growth has us adding 4 to 6 skilled welder/fitters to our shop floor.
PositionHighlights:

- Hourly Range: $22.00 – $35.00 / hour (Based on experience and weld test performance)
- Overtime Pay: 1.5x base rate paid after 40 hours weekly (Consistent OT opportunities available)
- Experienced Tank Builders & Welders: $28.00 – $35.00 / hour
- Development-Level Welders: $22.00 – $27.00 / hour
- ASME Section VIII pressure vessels, API 650 storage tanks, modular skids, and related components
- Materials:
Primarily carbon steel and stainless steel. Alloy work (duplex, Monel, Inconel, Alloy 20) is assigned based on demonstrated experience. - Multiple Processes: MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Sub-Arc (SAW), and Flux Core (FCAW). TIG proficiency is critical for our pressure vessel work.
- Out-of-position work (overhead, vertical, 3G, 4G, 6G)
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Perform precision layout, bevel prep, fit-up, and tacking to exact specifications before executing the final weld‑out, taking full ownership of the joint.
- Operate fabrication tools including grinders, oxy‑acetylene torches, plasma cutters, and precision layout instruments (calipers, micrometers, angle finders, squares).
- Strictly adhere to the Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and maintain inspection‑ready quality on every weld.
- 5+ years of welding and fabrication experience
- Solid Flux‑Core/MIG and TIG skills in carbon and stainless steel
- Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols
- Strong fit‑up skills (layout, bevel prep, tacking)
- Solid math fundamentals (fractions, decimals, angles)
- Ability to handle physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to pass our hands‑on weld test (tested strictly on our WPS)
- Passing a pre‑employment drug test
- AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, or API 1104 certifications
- Prior pressure vessel or code‑stamped tank manufacturing work
- Advanced TIG and Flux Core experience
- Alloy welding experience (duplex, Monel, Inconel, Alloy 20)
- OSHA safety training
