Job Title

RS Acft Compo Repair Tech II in GAC Savannah

Schedule

First shift Mon–Thur 6am–4:30pm

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 3 years of related experience or education, including 1 year with similar CNC equipment; PCB application experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in sheet metal, hydraulic overhaul, electrical/electronic harness buildup, electrical systems troubleshooting, battery servicing, APU removal, installation, or servicing.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering documents and use precision measuring tools; proficiency in operating all tools and equipment in the department (including glass bead and carboblast machines). Basic understanding of shop math.
Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC machines (mills or lathes) to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop construction, mathematics, maintainability, materials, and layout techniques.
  • Download program files to set up machine for cutting/milling to blueprints and/or engineering documents.
  • Test programs and ensure machine is set up in accordance with drawings.
  • Remove or replace cutting tools and offsets as required; inspect tool condition and replace as needed.
  • Manipulate programs to fit inserts into material, ensuring fit and conformity.
  • Inspect cut material/parts prior to CNC operation to ensure conformity and compliance with blueprints, models, and engineering documents.
  • Identify material and appropriate cutting tools; set up material and inspect for serviceability.
  • Write and/or edit CNC programs based on blueprint/model specifications.
  • Train lower‑level CNC technicians.
  • Complete paperwork and other documents as required.
  • Apply basic and advanced skills in procedures, tools, materials, and equipment appropriate to the area of specialization.
  • Perform repairs of mechanical and electrical assemblies and subassemblies through removal, repair or replacement of defective parts and/or fabrication of replacement parts, and installations in accordance with blueprints, component maintenance manuals, vendor documents, verbal instructions, engineering dispositions, and other authorized maintenance data.
  • Set up, maintain, and operate necessary test equipment to perform functional and operational tests of mechanical and electrical aircraft components for return to service.
  • Inspect all detail parts using blueprints, component and overhaul manuals, and other required maintenance data to ensure conformity requirements are met.
  • Remove skins and related components on flight controls and secondary structure components; locate and install/reinstall parts.
  • Demonstrate effective repair techniques, including troubleshooting, soldering, and application of protective coatings.
  • Maintain and utilize all required paperwork in accordance with FAA repair‑station requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Comply with all company and legislative environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Lays out, removes, fabricates and/or installs major and minor repairs to flight controls and other secondary structure components (e.g., honeycomb core sandwich construction techniques, composite repair techniques, test‑bench operations, hydraulic press operations, servicing carts).
  • Fabricate and repair sheet metal and associated mechanical parts, components, and equipment by rolling, shrinking, stretching, braking, riveting, or other mechanical means.
  • Remove and install APUs and perform all required APU maintenance for all Gulfstream aircraft models.
  • Fabricate and repair wiring and electrical assemblies and harnesses using acceptable repair and fabrication processes including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wires.
  • Utilize training and tools to effectively troubleshoot complex electrical circuits and systems during component repair processes.
  • Assist with training and instruction of Acft Component Repair I Techs.
  • Resolve routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Job requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
