Job Overview
The SMT (Surface Mount Technology) operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of SMT production equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality electronic assembly. This role supports production by operating key machinery including screen printers and pick‑and‑place systems, while maintaining adherence to process standards and quality requirements.
A Day In The LifeKey Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor SMT equipment, including screen printers and pick‑and‑place machines, to support production schedules.
- Perform machine setup, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Ensure accurate solder paste application and component placement according to production specifications.
- Inspect PCB assemblies for defects and verify quality standards are met.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve process issues.
- Maintain and clean SMT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow ESD, safety, and company procedures at all times.
- Document production data, issues, and corrective actions as required.
Desired qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in an SMT manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Hands‑on experience operating SMT screen printers and pick‑and‑place equipment.
- Basic understanding of electronic components and PCB assembly processes.
- Ability to read work instructions, assembly drawings, and BOMs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment.
Preferred Skills (Plus Qualifications):
- Experience with SMT machine programming is a strong plus.
- Experience working with Juki SMT equipment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems.
- Knowledge of IPC standards (such as IPC‑A‑610).
