Clinical Nurse Specialist, Healthcare Nursing, RN Nurse
JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care including goals, implementation of treatment, evaluation and outcomes for patients throughout the organization. Provides resident, family and staff education regarding wound management, prevention of pressure ulcers, support surfaces, dressing selections and other therapies. Is a resource person for physicians and clinical staff. Participates in performance improvement plan of the organization.
The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a group of patients, supervise assigned nursing personnel, collaborate with other health care professionals, coordinate ancillary staff, demonstrate professional growth and development in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice at the clinical setting, and provide direct or indirect patient care to all developmental ages.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS- Current GA Registered Nurse Licensure.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in medical/surgical, rehabilitation nursing.
- Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) preferred.
- Current BCLS Certification
- Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.
- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Basic Computer Skills
- General environment:
Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels. - May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
- May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
- May be required to change from one task to another or different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- May be scheduled as needed including overtime.

Clarity of vision (both near and far), ability to distinguish colors. - Have good manual dexterity.
- Have good eye-hand foot coordination.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks/motion.
- Continuously within shift (67-100%):
Standing, Walking. - Frequently within shift (34-66%):
Bending/Stooping, Pushing/Pulling, Lift/carry up to 20lbs, Lift/carry greater than 20 lbs. with assistance. - Occasionally within shift (1-33%):
Sitting, Climbing, Twist at waist, Lift/Carry greater than 50 lbs. with assistance, Reaching above shoulder.

- Ability to perform wound assessment, reassessment and management of all patients and per policy.
- Knowledgeable of the anatomy and physiology and disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and dermal systems.
- Utilizes principles of current wound management theory when providing care to resident with acute and chronic wounds.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of staging system of wounds.
- Develops skin care programs to prevent skin breakdown of resident.
- Knowledgeable of surgical procedures and postoperative course of residents undergoing bowel surgery.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill to develop and implement policies and procedures to manage residents with draining wounds, fistulae and/or tubes; wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care and incontinence.
