Job Summary

A clinical research nurse focuses on ensuring both patient safety and adherence to study protocols. They play a central role in protecting patient welfare during experimental treatments and ensuring scientific integrity of trials through strict protocol adherence.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Patient Care
    :
    Perform comprehensive assessments, create care plans, provide direct IV therapy (medications, fluids, blood), manage vascular access devices (PICCs, central lines), and monitor vital signs and patient response.
  • Patient & Family Education
    :
    Educate participants about their treatment, IV care, potential side effects, and study requirements.
  • Collaboration
    :
    Work closely with Principal Investigators (PIs), study coordinators, pharmacists, and other staff; provide training to peers on new protocols.
  • Documentation
    :
    Maintain accurate, complete, and timely source documentation in electronic medical records for data integrity.
  • Safety & Compliance
    :
    Monitor for infusion‑related complications and adverse events, report findings, and maintain a safe, compliant environment.
  • Other duties as assigned
    :
    Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in a specialized area; current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCS.

OR

Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia with a minimum of six years of clinical experience in a specialized area; current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCS.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Band: B13

Salary Range $68,500/annually – $87,300/annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint) of the position.

Benefits may include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan), as well as earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.

If applicable for the specific position based on the duties, the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and/or approved departmental Purchase Card usage.

Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle.

For Faculty Hires:
Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post‑secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
