Job Overview
Island Veterinary Clinic is a well-established, progressive 4-doctor companion animal general practice in Savannah, GA on Wilmington Island. We’ve been serving the community for over 40 years, with a loyal client base and experienced staff. Our goal is to create and maintain meaningful relationships with clients and patients to provide the best care for each individual, while maintaining a community feel and using advanced diagnostics and education to uphold high standards of care.
We offer a wide range of services to provide comprehensive care, including Wellness Services, Preventative Care, Walk-In Urgent or Sick Care, General Surgery, Digital Full-Body Imaging, Ultrasound, In-House Idexx Laboratory (Procyte, Catalyst, Coag dx, U/A analyzer, Sedivue, Snap-Pro, ECG), In-House Pharmacy, Cold Therapy Laser, Electrocautery, Medical Boarding, and more. We have 3 exam rooms and separate dog and cat lobbies. Cornerstone practice management software with 10 workstations supports fast and efficient medical record keeping.

ResponsibilitiesJob duties include, but are not limited to:
- Pet restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying stability.
- Administration of medications and effective communication of treatment plans with clients.
- Surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.
- Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises; may be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.
- Opportunities for training and continuing development through virtual and hands-on programs.
We’re looking for:
- An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
- Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker, and strong communicator.
- Must be able to properly restrain pets.
- Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs; anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance knowledge and skills.
Pay range: $16.50/hr
