Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer 1 – Savannah, GA
Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer 1 is responsible for working with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across Gulfstream’s supply base.
Responsibilities- Support supplier quality and inspection activities to ensure products meet approved quality systems and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance through system, product, and process audits.
- Assess supplier quality systems, personnel, manufacturing processes, and equipment against applicable standards.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and suppliers to improve quality, reduce scrap, and enhance manufacturing and repair processes.
- Drive Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) initiatives, ensuring timely and effective resolution of supplier issues.
- Support supplier certification activities and ongoing quality performance monitoring.
- Develop and maintain supplier scorecards, metrics, and risk assessments.
- Promote continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean, Six Sigma, and APQP principles.
- Communicate supplier performance expectations and facilitate resolution of quality concerns.
- Provide technical guidance and support within cross‑functional teams.
- Ensure all delivered or finished articles are manufactured in accordance with approved quality system requirements and are certified as compliant to type design or in‑service limitations.
- Coordinate quality assurance program plans, audit schedules, acceptance test programs, and quality engineering requirements for Gulfstream suppliers.
- Develop key metrics and score‑card measures that accurately depict supplier health from a risk and performance perspective.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Sciences, Quality Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with structural components and supplier quality activities preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external suppliers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Power BI, and SAP.
- Understanding of blueprints, specifications, manufacturing processes, and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and Quality Control System requirements preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies; certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of APQP principles preferred.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification and/or FAA designee experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Computer literate and capable of working within the software applications utilized throughout the enterprise.
- Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles; certification preferred.
- A&A or a four‑year combination of related experience may substitute for a degree.
