The position:
Under the direction of the Executive Quality Director, the Corp. Manufacturing QA Manager is responsible for providing support across all manufacturing plants in the use of advanced quality and six sigma toolsets. This corporate role will interact with Plant Quality Managers and plant leadership.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own and develop quality/statistical/automotive toolset training for all Plant Quality, manufacturing engineering, and industrial engineering personnel.
- Develop and Manage Quality Planning activities via the use of Advanced Product Quality Planning methods.
- Expert knowledge and training ability for developing Process Flow, Potential failure mode and effect analysis, Control Plans, manufacturing capability study, Gage repeatability and reproducibility studies.
- Lead teams to identify risks/hazards associated with product designs, processes, applications, applying lessons learned, and train personnel in the generation of FMEAs and associated Control Plans.
- Collaborate with Great Dane’s quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and support reviewing manufacturability of design.
- Teach and coach plant quality personnel in identification of Critical dimensions, Statistical tolerancing, and tolerance stackups.
- Teach and coach conducting CpK studies and help identify and reduce process variation for existing products.
- Well versed and experienced in creation of PPAP documents and guiding teams in developing and using the tools.
- Liaise with manufacturing, sales, supply chain, logistics, senior management & stakeholders on all existing products by providing the link to the customer expectation and warranty requirements.
- Expert level knowledge of DOE (Classical/Taguchi), Regression analysis, Anova, t-test, and concepts of variation.
- Familiar with the use of statistical software (MINITAB preferred) as well as SPC methods.
- Lead and guide others in the practical use of the Six Sigma philosophy and tools.
Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)
- Education: bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Experience: 5-10+ years of relevant work experience in automotive environment
- Skills:
Prefer CQE/Six sigma black belt - Exceptional mechanical aptitude (i.e., intuitive understanding of mechanical processes)
- Proven track record of deploying Advanced product quality planning tools and successful product launches.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including advanced data functions in Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills:
Ability to collect and analyze data and present findings. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Travel: Travel to suppliers or plants may be required.
