The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires knowledge of every product area or department in the store and includes determining methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store’s goals and initiatives. The Manager in Training upholds policies, procedures, and standards listed in the visual manual, fully promotes each sale and/or promotion, and serves as an ambassador of Hibbett, creating a unique customer experience to acquire and retain long‑time customers.

The employee is passionate about providing outstanding customer service and promoting the merchandise in stores, and assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence while being trained on all Store Manager responsibilities.

• Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
• Consult with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to establish action plans that accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
• Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
• Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
• Stay aware of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
• Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
• Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
• Assure quality customer service is maintained.
• Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
• Deliver extraordinary customer service highlighted in the customer service manual, including welcoming customers as they enter the store and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
• Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett.
• Practice and uphold all Hibbett City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and company memos.
• Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.

• Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.

• Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1–3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
• Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
• Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
