Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The Assistant Manager is responsible for the execution of all operational, merchandising and managerial functions during their assigned shift. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager serves as manager‑on‑duty, overseeing daily operations and supervision of Sales Associates.
Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Drive sales to achieve and exceed the financial plan.
- Assist Store Manager in evaluating business performance and implementing improvements.
- Set and monitor store goals (individual, daily, weekly).
- Manage store expenses and ensure adherence to company policy.
- Maintain final report accountability for store operations, associate development, and financial contribution.
- Schedule at least one grassroots event per quarter.
- Effectively manage merchandise and market externally to grow business.
- Utilize social media to drive traffic, recruit, and generate sales.
- Build relationships with community, churches, and retailers.
- Provide exceptional customer service for all customers.
- Zone store for optimum selling and customer experience.
- Serve as product knowledge expert and hold associates accountable for product knowledge and company values.
- Develop staff to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Partner with Store Manager on all store matters and maintain high standards per the Policy and Procedures manual.
- Create store schedule and adjust to align with selling, expense, and productivity.
- Ensure store neatness, maintenance, and cleanliness.
- Execute merchandise displays and visuals for brand enhancement.
- Place supply orders and monitor inventory levels.
- Communicate with Store Manager and District Manager on issues.
- Recruit candidates, recommend top candidates to Store Manager, and train staff for career paths.
- Conduct regular staff communications and coaching.
- Manage time for self and associates.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2‑3 years prior retail experience; 1 year prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to apply retail math principles.
- Computer skills and POS system proficiency.
- High initiative, accountability, and prioritization abilities.
- Detail‑oriented and meet deadlines.
- Lift up to 30 lbs and perform pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching frequently.
- Stand for periods of 8‑10 hours a day.
- Use ladders or other equipment for store and merchandising maintenance.
- Work a flexible schedule including holidays, weekends, and late evenings.
- Travel may be required for district meetings or banking duties.
- Interact daily across all divisions and levels.
