PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for monitoring and reporting incidents occurring at different locations and for assigning officers for investigations. Incumbents also monitor the security of the central office.

Requirements- Education Level: GED or a standard high school diploma from a GaDOE‑approved and accredited institution is required.
- Experience, Skill, and Certification:
- Work experience with various types of office machinery and computer operations
- Demonstrable ability to understand and follow oral and written communications including by telephone and radio
- Demonstrable communication skills, including clarity, tact, courtesy and calm during stressful situations
- Must complete and pass the GCIC required terminal operator certification training within 6 months of employment
- Must complete and pass communications officer certification
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Preferred:
- Experience in police/emergency dispatching
- GCIC Terminal Operator Certified
- Communication Officer Certified
- Maintain alarm log, telephone log, and radio log.
- Record and monitor incidents as reported.
- Maintain an itinerary of first responders.
- Maintain a criminal report number log.
- Monitor and operate alarm computer.
- Operate GCIC/NCIC computer.
- Operate fingerprinting equipment and process reports.
- Operate equipment and make badges for employees.
- Monitor security systems for all SCCPSS facilities.
- Work up to 12‑hour rotating shift, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Proficient in data entry including Microsoft products.
- Ability to work long hours during disasters and evacuations.
- Ability to assess emergency situations and may provide preliminary advice and guidance.
- Ability to work with public and private sectors through the METRO 911 system and private emergency calls.
- Work with the public and private sector utilizing the emergency 911 system and telephone communications.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Dispatch and provide directions to personnel responding to calls for service.
- Perform other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of employees, students, and visitors.
Incumbents will be considered “at will.” This position is considered to be “Essential Personnel, Critical Staff” when there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations. This position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in Policy Regulation GBRB‑R,
Title:
Professional Personnel Time Schedules. Appropriate pay will be determined based on Grade 104 and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources. The work calendar will be 250 days. This position is Non‑Exempt and eligible for the Teachers Retirement System.
