Job DescriptionPrimary Funtion: Under the direction of the Campus Police, Chief of Police, the Captain performs a variety of complex, technical,and administrative duties in support of the Police Department.
The Administrative Captain serves as an executive advisorto the Chief of Police and is responsible for organizational alignment with the SCCPSS policy and Strategic plan, accountability, and continuity of operations, while maintaining readiness for routine operations, critical incidents, and emergency response within the school district’s law enforcement agency.
The Administrative Captain is authorized, as delegated or required, to represent the Chief of Police and act on the Chief’s behalf in administrative, operational, and executive matters.

Education and ExperienceRequired:
- Bachelor’s degreein related field
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience in law enforcement environment or related field; strong organizational and supervisory skills.
Preferred :
- Bachelor’s degree in public administrationor criminal justice administration
Required:
- Possession of the Supervisory/Management Post Certificateor commensurate training and experience
Preferred:
- Any additional certifications related to internal affairs investigations or accreditation processes would be advantageous
- Background Investigation with Polygraph
- Criminal History Record and Sex Offender Registry Checks
- Drug Test
- Maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency in purchasing, budgeting, and procurement best practices.
- Assignments must have included public and community relations.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to crime, safety, and security
- The ability to interpret and explain laws, rules, policies, and procedures, and to apply them appropriately
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills
- Knowledge of training/teaching techniques for law enforcement personnel.
- Knowledge of public relations and crime prevention programs
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as “public relations” skills
- Knowledge and skill in the use of MS Office Suite

1. Manages Central Office Security, front desk, emergency communications, system, and its personnel.
2. Manage and oversee the department’s budget to ensure resources are allocated effectively across all operational, personnel, training, equipment, technology, and school safety functions.
3. Manages the department’s quartermaster, assists with the purchasing of all department equipment, and the selection of vendors through the procurement and bid processes. Manages the department’s evidence collection, processing, and evidence custodian personnel.
