Diesel Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, air brake systems, and suspensions for tractor-trailers. You will also conduct routine preventative maintenance and ensure all equipment meets safety standards.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, air brake systems, and suspensions for tractor-trailers.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance services including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and lubrication.
- Inspect and repair trailer components such as axles, lighting, landing gear, air systems, and brakes.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
- Complete DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets FMCSA safety standards.
- Document all work performed, parts used, and repairs needed in the maintenance system.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area; follow all shop safety procedures.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, drivers, and team members about repair needs and timelines.
- Assist with emergency roadside repairs when needed.

Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of diesel mechanic or heavy-truck maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience working on Class 8 tractors and trailers (Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo, etc.).
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, air brake systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
- Own basic hand tools (shop will supply specialty tools).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding shop environment.

Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a mechanic shop that can be loud, dirty, hot, or cold. You will work outside and inside the shop with a schedule typically from 8-5:30 pm, starting at 7:30 am on most days, from Monday to Friday with some overtime. You will need to bring your tools, list will be provided.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
