Maintenance Mechanic

At Chemours, we are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our growing Georgia team. This position will report directly to the Maintenance First Line Supervisor in our Mission mine site in Winokur, GA.

Safely perform highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting work involving process equipment and mechanical systems for mining and mineral processing facilities operating 24-hours per day, 7-days per week. Maximize equipment availability and reduce downtime by maintaining, servicing, and installing or replacing water and slurry pumps, screeners, conveyors, bins, valves, and other mineral processing wear parts.

• Work in a self-guided manner in the absence of supervision and demonstrate creativity, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative.
• Report all personal injuries and EHS incidents and assist with both safety and environmental investigations.
• Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas.
• Read equipment specifications, OEM maintenance manuals, diagrams, and blueprints to correctly assemble and maintain equipment.
• Requisition material and supplies from stockroom; call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommend purchases and suppliers.
• Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence with company safety and quality standards.
• Support downtime planning to accomplish required work per agreed cost and schedule.
• Offer guidance and support to other maintenance personnel to further develop in-house technical expertise.

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Specialized training in mechanical, maintenance, or a related field.
• Regularly required to use hands, fingers, and feet in a coordinated effort to move levers and turn dials to safely maintain plant equipment.
• Frequently ascends or descends ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, or ramps using feet and/or hands and arms.
• Perform heavy manual labor when needed such as moving equipment and supplies around the plant in different weather conditions.
• Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods (4-6 hours).
• Frequently lifts or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Position requires working near and around operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations.
• Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Capable of wearing personal protective equipment such as hearing protectors and fall protection as necessary.

• Valid Journeyman Millwright certification or equivalent, welding and rigging certification.
• Plus 5 years of plant/industrial maintenance experience.
