Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Savannah, Georgia.
We want the right Maintenance Repair Mechanic to join us at Ryder to work on Heavy Duty Vehicles.
- Hourly Pay: $29.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter - four times per year
- Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday - Hours:
First Shift 7:00 am - 3:30 am

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification (post‑secondary)
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance at minimum (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required areas, preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check including drug and alcohol verification from last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
- Conduct preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer equipment when applicable
- Identify root causes of basic failures and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
