The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient repair of equipment, preventative maintenance, and fabrication of projects associated with terminal operations at the Savannah, GA, rail‑to‑container transload facility.
Schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 6:45AM – 4:30PM.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair various electrical components and systems.
- Inspect electrical components and complete preventative maintenance.
- Ensure electrical equipment and wiring conform to code.
- Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade team members.
- Install, repair, and maintain terminal machinery and equipment according to construction plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishments.
- Use hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools on a variety of projects.
- Dismantle and repair various machinery.
- Identify hand tools, fasteners, and other equipment used in the trade and distinguish their applications.
- Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
- Assemble or fasten machines, bolts, welds, and rivets to foundations or other structures.
- Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
- Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET’s products and processes.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3years of previous electrical experience required.
- 3–5years of previous maintenance experience required.
- Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the millwright field.
- Experience with MIG and stick welding tools preferred.
- Ability to plan work, solve problems and make decisions based on quantifiable information.
- Self‑driven, energetic, and a team player.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills; ability to embrace change.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capability to learn new programs.

- Occasionally lift weights up to 60pounds.
- Climb several flights of stairs and ladders.
- Occasional bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than 50pounds.
- Data entry while seated for greater than one hour.
- Walk up to two or more miles per day.
- Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
- Work at heights, in confined spaces, and at temperatures from
-20 to +100degrees. - Stand for extended periods of time.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Subject to random drug and alcohol testing; must pass a pre‑screen drug test.
