Diesel Technician

Ryder is hiring a Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Savannah, Georgia. This role offers weekly pay and comprehensive benefits.

• Hourly Pay: $29.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus up to $700 for each new ASE Certification
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
• Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Tuesday – Saturday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification or postsecondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.)
• Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience in required areas (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification for previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle record checks; road tests; and/or badge or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance and component inspections and repairs.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using diagnostic computers.
• Identify root cause of failures and perform repairs as required.
• Replace defective components as instructed.
• Perform facility maintenance duties.
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints.
• Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT, etc.).
• Perform other support duties to support operations, including Service Island support as needed.
