POSITION SUMMARY
Republic Services technicians are responsible for maintaining the performance and quality of our fleet. Technicians perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including electrical diagnosis of starting & charging systems, air conditioning & heating component inspections, wheel end assembly inspections, air system inspections, air brake inspections, hydraulic inspections, and truck preventive maintenance. This apprenticeship program trains an entry‑level technician over a two‑year period to develop these skills.
APPRENTICETRAINING EXPERIENCE
The apprenticeship begins with nine (9) weeks of company‑paid training at the Republic Services Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas. Graduates continue with twenty‑two (22) months of on‑the‑job training (OJT), mentorship, and virtual instructor‑led technical content while working towards Apprentice certification as a Republic Services entry‑level Diesel Mechanic. Accelerated candidates may advance to a Level C Technician before the twenty‑two‑month requirement. Apprentices gain hands‑on experience in routine preventive maintenance, tire work, wheel end components, mechanic skills, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
