Commercial Kitchen Equipment Technician

Base Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 / Hour.

The Commercial Kitchen Equipment Technician supports the HOH Equipment Manager by performing inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of commercial kitchen equipment across all food service operations. This role is critical to ensuring equipment uptime, food safety compliance, and uninterrupted kitchen operations.

The technician works hands‑on with hot‑side, cold‑side, and utility equipment, responding to breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with the kitchen team if work needs to be completed while the kitchen is open.

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial kitchen equipment including but not limited to: ovens, ranges, fryers, grills, steamers, walk‑in coolers/freezers, reach‑ins, and ice machines.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, gas, and basic refrigeration repairs.
  • Complete emergency and urgent repairs to minimize kitchen downtime.
  • Communicate equipment status, recurring issues, and repair recommendations to the HOH Equipment Manager.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance as directed.
Qualifications & Critical Skills
  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school preferred).
    • Experience working with commercial kitchen or food service equipment.
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Electrical systems.
    • Gas appliances.
    • HVAC.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Preferred

    Certifications:

    • Universal or Type II EPA Certification.
    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks related to equipment maintenance.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or otherwise crowded areas.
  • Comfort with working in varying environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations and noise levels in kitchen or maintenance areas.
