Job Description
The Wastewater Technician is responsible for performing technical work in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with applicable permits and regulations. Duties include monitoring plant operations, sampling and testing water quality, making operational changes, recording daily activities and changes in plant operation, operating dewatering equipment, inspecting plant equipment, and identifying needed repairs.
Essential Duties- Pre‑employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing are required.
- On‑call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays may be required.
- Perform safety‑sensitive tasks related to wastewater treatment operations.
Level I – $40,000.00 – $43,336.00 (Grade A12(3))
Level II – $49,000.00 – $56,350.00 (Grade B22(3))
Level III – $53,286.00 – $61,280.00 (Grade B23(3))
Level IV – $57,950.00 – $64,079.00 (Grade B24(3))
Minimum Requirements by Level Level I- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must obtain certification as Water/Wastewater Operator within one year.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three (3) months of water plant experience.
- Georgia Class III certification/license in water.
- Valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of water treatment or wastewater experience.
- OR, Bachelor of Science degree in a related field.
- OR, Current Class I certificate in another category and one year of 'water treatment or wastewater'.
- OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties.
- Georgia Class III certification/license in water.
- Valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three years of water experience.
- OR, Bachelor of Science degree in a related field.
- OR, Current Class I certificate in another category and two years of water experience.
- OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties.
- Georgia Class I certification/license in water (required for promotion to Water Shift Supervisor).
- Valid driver's license.
