GENERAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (Part Time)

At the Savannah Convention Center (SCC), we aim to be the premier event destination delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences. The General Maintenance Technician will perform maintenance duties in all trade fields including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and brick masonry.

• Maintain a professional image that reflects the philosophy of the Savannah Convention Center and provide exhibitors and clients with the highest level of customer service.
• Perform general maintenance work in the assigned trade field.
• Assist with the installation of engineering services for building events.
• Maintain equipment and tools as assigned.
• Notify the appropriate manager and/or supervisor of equipment and facilities requiring repair or replacement.
• Work irregular hours due to an event-based schedule.
• Participate in all Savannah Convention Center and Engineering training programs and periodic departmental meetings.
• Perform such other duties, functions, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Engineer.

Exposure to adverse weather conditions and various chemicals. Ability to work irregular hours due to an event-based schedule. Requires extensive walking, occasional bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Knowledge of multiple systems and equipment as listed above. Proven and demonstrated expertise in these systems in a commercial environment. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, vendors, and visitors to the facility. Ability to multi-task and be a team player.

High school graduate or equivalent (trade school training a plus). Minimum of 2 years of trade or helper experience in the convention and/or trade show industry, or a comparable position in a specialized trade field.
