Position Summary

Victory Plumbing is seeking a motivated and dependable Plumber Helper (Apprentice) to assist licensed plumbers and plumbing technicians with the installation, repair, maintenance, and servicing of plumbing systems.

This is an entry-level or developing skilled-trades position intended for someone who wants to build a long-term career in the plumbing industry. The Plumber Helper / Apprentice works under the direction and supervision of an assigned licensed plumber and assists with tools, materials, job-site preparation, installations, repairs, cleanup, documentation, and vehicle organization.

The ideal candidate is punctual, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and able to follow directions. The apprentice is expected to develop plumbing knowledge and technical skills through supervised field experience, training, and increasing levels of responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plumbing Assistance and Skill Development
  • Assist licensed plumbers with residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing service and construction work.
  • Help install, repair, maintain, and service water supply, drainage, sewer, gas, vent, fixture, and related plumbing systems.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and prepare piping and other plumbing materials as directed.
  • Assist with installing and replacing plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets, water heaters, disposals, valves, piping, and related components.
  • Dig trenches, make penetrations, remove damaged materials, and prepare work areas as directed.
  • Hand tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to the assigned plumber as needed.
  • Observe and assist with diagnosing plumbing problems and identifying appropriate repair methods.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, equipment manuals, and plumbing codes.
  • Develop knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, tools, terminology, installation methods, and repair procedures.
  • Perform only those plumbing duties authorized by the supervising plumber and permitted by applicable laws and regulations.
  • Never perform unsupervised plumbing work requiring a license, certification, or level of experience the apprentice does not possess.
  • Ask questions when instructions, job requirements, or safety expectations are unclear.
  • Participate in required technical training, safety training, and apprenticeship development activities.
Job-Site Preparation and Support
  • Help load, unload, transport, and stage tools, equipment, fixtures, and materials.
  • Confirm that required tools and materials are available before leaving for a job site.
  • Help protect customer property by using floor coverings, drop cloths, shoe covers, and other protective materials.
  • Set up and organize work areas before plumbing work begins.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the job.
  • Remove debris, packaging, discarded materials, and job-related waste.
  • Assist with restoring the work area to a clean and professional condition before leaving.
  • Ensure company tools, equipment, and unused materials are collected and accounted for at the end of each job.
  • Return unused and returnable parts to the warehouse, supplier, or designated storage location as directed.
  • Notify the assigned plumber of damaged, missing, defective, or incorrect materials.
Tools, Equipment, and Inventory
  • Learn the correct and safe use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, diagnostic equipment, and plumbing equipment.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and report damaged or unsafe items.
  • Clean, maintain, organize, and properly store company tools and equipment.
  • Help maintain required truck-stock inventory and notify the assigned plumber when items need to be replenished.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, loading, and delivering materials to job sites.
  • Ensure materials used on a job are accurately communicated to the assigned plumber for billing and inventory purposes.
  • Do not remove, transfer, return, or dispose of company or customer materials without authorization.
  • Maintain accountability for all company-issued tools, uniforms, safety equipment, and property.
Service Titan, Timekeeping, and Documentation
  • Clock in and out accurately in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensure the apprentice is properly dispatched to each assigned job in Service Titan or other company-approved software.
  • Accurately record time spent on each job, including travel, work, breaks, meetings, training, and other assigned activities.
