The Truck Mechanic II, an essential member of the fleet maintenance team, provides safe, federally compliant, dependable, and cost-effective equipment using preventative and predictive maintenance, as well as training of Truck Mechanic I employees.
Duties & Responsibilities- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs diesel truck and other company equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance on company equipment.
- Performs general maintenance on company equipment.
- Maintains clean and orderly workspace, company equipment, and facility.
- Completes recordkeeping and documentation for all repairs.
- Assists in training and development of entry-level mechanics.
- Fabrication of tools, parts, and equipment use for operations in the company.
- Familiarizes self with equipment in the company to have ability to trouble shoot issues.
- Attends training as prescribed by management to maintain job proficiency.
- Uses equipment and resources safely and proficiently.
- Ensures compliance with company standard operating procedures.
- Partners with colleagues to determine best practices with the goal of minimizing equipment downtime and route interference during repair times.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A valid drivers’ license is required.
- 5 years’ experience as a truck mechanic or in a fleet setting required.
- Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills required
- Automotive/Diesel mechanics degree and/or manufacturer CBT training course certificates are preferred.
- Knowledge of preventative, predictive, routine, non-routine, and emergency maintenance for equipment primarily powered by diesel and gasoline engines and auxiliary equipment is preferred.
- regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regional travel is required.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
