Way Radio Communications Technician

Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Installation of mobile radio equipment and related accessories (emergency warning systems, cameras, equipment consoles) in commercial and public safety type vehicles including heavy equipment, police vehicles, fire apparatus and commercial trucks. Installations to be completed in accordance with industry standards.
• Installation of fixed station equipment and related accessories (antennas, filtering systems, battery backup systems, microwave systems, bidirectional amplifiers and similar devices). Installations are to be done according to drawings and plans and are to be in compliance with Motorola R56 standards and other industry best practices under supervision field service technician.
• Completing and submitting written and visual documentation of work.
• Process daily repair orders by troubleshooting, operational diagnosis and repairing electronic equipment, primarily two-way radios and related devices.
• Maintaining system record for company systems and/or customer systems as required.
• All other tasks as may be assigned by management.
• Understand electronics as applied to vehicle voltage, sources, grounding, and mobile antenna systems.

Skills/

Qualifications:

• This position requires an understanding of two-way radio equipment and systems or background in electronic equipment installations.
• Employees in this position may be expected to complete and maintain appropriate levels of certification from the Electronic Technicians Association and/or the Federal Communications Commission (not necessary to hold certifications prior to employment)
• Organized and flexible
• Eager to learn and willing to listen
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to pass a thorough background check and drug screen
• Monday-Friday from 8AM—5PM
