Position Summary: The Residential Carpet Installer is responsible for measuring, cutting, and installing carpets in residential settings. This role involves preparing the surface, ensuring precise installation, and delivering high-quality finishes. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, proficiency with installation tools, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The location of this position will vary based on the project's location in Houston and the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Measurement and Preparation:

• Measure floor areas accurately to determine the amount of carpet needed.
• Inspect and prepare surfaces for carpet installation, ensuring they are clean, dry, and free of debris.
• Remove old flooring materials if necessary.
• Cut the carpet to size using appropriate tools, ensuring precise and clean edges.
• Lay and secure carpet using tack strips, adhesive, and other methods as required.
• Stretch the carpet to fit evenly, avoiding wrinkles or bubbles.
• Join carpet seams using heat tape, glue, or sewing techniques to create a seamless appearance.

Finishing:

• Trim excess carpet around edges, doorways, and obstacles.
• Install carpet padding or underlayment to enhance comfort and durability.
• Perform final inspections to ensure a high-quality finish.

Maintenance and Repair:

• Address any issues or discrepancies with carpet installation.
• Repair damaged carpet sections as needed.

Customer Service:

• Communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
• Provide recommendations on carpet types, colors, and patterns based on customer preferences and room use.
• Ensure customer satisfaction with the installation process and final results.

Safety:

• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Handle tools and materials safely and responsibly.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a carpet installer or in a similar role.
• Proficiency with installation tools, including but not limited to knives, cutters, stretchers, and seam irons.
• Strong attention to detail and precision.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and carrying heavy materials.
• Knowledge of different carpet types and installation techniques.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational training or certification in flooring installation.
• Previous experience in residential or commercial carpet installation projects.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in residential buildings, which may be occupied or under renovation.
• Exposure to dust, noise, and various weather.
• May require bending, kneeling, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
