Aircraft Structures Group (ASG) is an FAA Part 145 certificated repair station that performs specialized maintenance on customer aircraft at their sites. The company focuses on complex structural repairs and fuel tank repairs, supporting operators with both AOG (Aircraft on Ground) and base maintenance services. ASG teams are deployed to address critical maintenance needs, helping customers minimize downtime and maintain safety and compliance.

With a 24/7 emergency response hotline, ASG offers around-the-clock support for urgent situations and builds strong, long-term partnerships with aviation clients.

Role Description

The Aircraft Structure Mechanic job is a full-time, on-site role based in Savannah, GA. This position is responsible for performing structural repairs and modifications on aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and customer requirements. Daily tasks may include inspecting airframes for damage, removing and installing structural components, working in and around fuel tanks, using hand and power tools, and interpreting technical drawings and maintenance manuals.

The Mechanician will document all work performed, collaborate with supervisors and quality inspectors to ensure compliance, and follow strict safety protocols in hangar and ramp environments. The role also involves occasional support for AOG situations, requiring flexibility and a focus on timely, high-quality repairs.

Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, structural repair documents, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for sheet metal and structural repairs.
  • Experienced with aircraft structures, materials, fastening systems, and corrosion prevention practices.
  • Understanding of FAA Part 145 requirements, standard aviation safety procedures, and quality control practices.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and ability to follow work instructions and repair procedures.
  • Ability to work on-site in hangar and ramp environments, including confined spaces such as fuel tanks when required.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technicians, inspectors, and customers.
  • Relevant technical training or certification in aviation maintenance; an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in aircraft structural repair, fuel tank maintenance, or related aviation maintenance roles is highly beneficial.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift moderate weights, and work at heights or in confined spaces while adhering to safety standards.
