The HVAC Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related building automation systems across Lanier Technical College campuses. This position ensures that all HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations to provide a comfortable learning and working environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Will also perform preventive maintenance, respond to service requests and emergencies, maintains system documentation, and assists with facility improvement projects while supporting the College's mission of excellence in education and service.

Major Duties :

Inspect, diagnose, maintain, repair, and install HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, exhaust systems, and air handlers.

Monitor and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) and temperature control systems.

Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic controls related to HVAC equipment.

Perform system testing and balancing to ensure efficient operation and occupant comfort.

Respond to work orders and emergency service calls in a timely manner.

Maintain records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory.

Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and institutional safety regulations.

Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend repairs, replacements, or capital improvements.

Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other Facilities personnel on maintenance and construction projects.

Assist with energy conservation initiatives and sustainability efforts.

Perform seasonal startup and shutdown procedures for HVAC equipment.

Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as required.

Support other maintenance functions as needed to ensure efficient facility operations.

Commutes between campuses as required;

Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED Technical training in HVAC, refrigeration, or a closely related field.

Minimum of four (4) years of experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, or educational facility HVAC maintenance and repair.

EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.

Valid Georgia driver's license
