Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform repair and service procedures on truck-mounted vacuum equipment in the shop. Responsibilities include routine preventative maintenance inspections and handling lubrication, fuels, and fluids. The position may require travel to make field service and repair calls. Additionally, the mechanic will be responsible for cleaning the trucks, including minor detailing of the interior and washing the exterior.
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is also required, along with performing housekeeping duties when no trucks are in need of service.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air, and water systems.
- Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards to return rental equipment to 'Ready to Rent' status.
- Perform and document 'check in' and 'check out' inspections of fleet equipment.
- Maintain and organize shop and storage areas ensuring proper storage of flammable items.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and work effectively as part of a team.
- Be self-motivated, accountable, and timely in all assignments.
- Service, repair, DOT inspection, hydraulic system, mechanical.
- Minimum of three years of verifiable experience as a mechanic.
- Ability to own and supply a basic set of hand tools and storage box. The company provides large and specialized tools.
- Demonstrated experience in Diesel, Heavy equipment, Hydraulics, Maintenance technician, Preventive maintenance, Brake, Troubleshooting.
- Possession of or willingness to obtain a CDL license.
Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with truck-mounted vacuum equipment is preferred.

Work EnvironmentWork primarily occurs in a garage, which can become hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
