Chatham County Juvenile Court Probation Officer
Multiple positions available. The Chatham County Juvenile Court is seeking dedicated probation officers to supervise and monitor youth involved with the court. This role involves case management, social work, and community outreach, and requires a strong commitment to helping young people succeed.
Examples of Duties- Supervise and monitor delinquent youth or children in need of services on intake or probation, including the processing and disposition of court cases involving juvenile offenders.
- Manage a caseload, track the progress of the youth and the case, and maintain case notes records.
- Prepare social histories, risk assessments, petitions, written recommendations, and court summaries.
- Request school records, counseling reports, and medical records.
- Assess the needs of both juveniles and their families, make appropriate social service referrals, and monitor and document progress.
- Conduct interviews with youth, parents, police officers, and others and testify in court.
- Generate documents and enter data into a computer database.
- Work closely with community social service agencies.
- Analyze crises and make quick decisions.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice, or a closely related field, and
- At least one (1) year of experience in case management or working with juveniles; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- You must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, commercial driver's license (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
