* Certification as a Georgia Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor will be required within 120 days of starting employment.*
- Serve as District Lead and Healthy Home Coordinator for the assigned health district.
- Conduct case reviews, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Write reports.
- Provide guidance and education to families and the medical community.
- Coordinate outreach to a variety of audiences.
- Conduct enforcement activities.
- Serve as topic expert for childhood lead poisoning.
* Local travel is required for this position.*
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university that includes the completion of 27 semester or 40 quarter hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.)
** and
* * one (1) year of experience at the lower‑level PH Envir Compl Specialist 1 (RCP
120) or equivalent position.
- Master’s degree in public health or environmental health/science.
- Completed bachelor’s degree with the required laboratory science hours.
- Certified Georgia Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor.
- Certified Healthy Homes Specialist.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) as valid. Candidates may be subject to pre‑employment drug screening and a criminal background check. Relocation assistance is not provided. In the event of an identified emergency, you may be required, as a term and condition of DPH employment, to assist in meeting the emergency responsibilities of the department.
Physical activity breaks may be allocated up to 30 minutes per workday, typically as two 15‑minute breaks or one 30‑minute break.
