Description
Operate a company vehicle in a safe manner to pick up vehicles from auto auctions or private parties. Load vehicles, verify loaded vehicles, collect paperwork, pay for cars with company check, obtain signatures from pickup locations confirming accuracy, and deliver vehicles to plant and any items pertaining to the load.
EssentialJob Duties
- Drive a company vehicle in a safe, courteous and responsible manner, avoiding traffic violations and accidents.
- Follow DOT procedures.
- Pick up vehicles at auction or private party and load onto company truck.
- Secure vehicles and verify the condition of the truck and the load, gather paperwork associated with the vehicle.
- Leave plant with orders, drive to the pickup location, verify vehicles, obtain signatures, confirm accuracy, and sign off verifying the integrity of the load.
- Make proper notations on the vehicles.
- Work carefully to prevent injury to yourself or damage to vehicles.
- Comply with established company policies and procedures.
- Successfully complete annual training as assigned.
- Operate in compliance with applicable rules and regulations set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
- Walk the yard and place debris in cars being removed from the yard.
Not responsible for supervising employees.
Requirements- High School Diploma/GED.
- 1+ years of related experience required.
- At least six months of related warehouse operations experience.
- At least one year of commercial driving experience or certificate from an accredited commercial driving school.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Must qualify for corporate insurance programs, including vehicle insurance.
- Must meet Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must comply with state and local mandated requirements as well as DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc.
- Basic oral and written communication skills; can write brief messages and keep simple records.
- Problem‑solving skills for routine, somewhat repetitive tasks, generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
- Decision making that generally affects one’s own job or assigned functional area.
- Guidance and priorities provided by a supervisor or manager.
- Employee is required to drive a vehicle most of the time.
- Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time); use hands to operate machinery.
- May need to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time.
- Frequent exposure to contaminants such as fuel or exhaust; may occasionally wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- May need to work in cramped spaces that could require awkward positioning.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures, extreme lighting, and high noise levels.
- Daily travel will be required; overnight travel may be required.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
