This recruitment will be used to fill seven full-time (40 hours per week) MIME Research Assistant positions located in Scappoose, Oregon this summer for the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU).
Research assistants will perform routine to complex technical or specialized tasks in support of research. Most positions will include machine-tool operation, laboratory research, data collection, and analysis.
Position is located in Scappoose, Oregon.

Position Duties100% –– Duties to be determined by the hiring unit/supervisor.
- Experimentation and machine-tool operation in a laboratory or factory-floor setting
- Equipment set-up, maintenance, and clean-up
- Data collection and analysis, and other related tasks
- Other duties are performed specific to the funding and research topic
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student:
Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program - Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
- High School student:
* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
AdditionalRequired Qualifications
- Sophomore standing while in this position
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Desire to be involved in hands-on research
- Desire to define, pursue, and complete a self-motivated project in Subtractive Manufacturing or Additive Manufacturing
- Successful completion of required training (For the first weeks of the position the students will complete training at the OMIC Training Center. Students must successfully complete this training to continue to the latter weeks of the position.)
