Requirements:
  • Previous experience playing and/or coaching Field Hockey at or above the high school level.
  • First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Maine Department of Education valid fingerprinting and CHRC approval.
  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Principles Certification.
  • NFHS Concussion in Sport Certification.
  • NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certification.
  • NFHS Protecting Students from Abuse.
  • All other certification necessary as assigned by Scarborough School and the Director of Athletics.
Job Description:
  • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success, while fostering moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
  • Ensure and provide a safe competitive and educational environment for all student athletes.
  • Assist in the overall development of the Scarborough Field Hockey program as assigned by the Department of Athletics.
Duties:
  • Abide by the Scarborough Middle School Athletic Department Coaches Handbook.
  • Abide by all Maine Principals Association rules and regulations.
  • Follow and implement all rules and policies within the school and athletic handbooks.
  • Equipment inventory and management.
  • Communicate travel arrangements and schedules with Athletic Department staff.
  • Implement school athletic Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure roster and students comply with Athletic Department policies.
  • Ensure athletic participation fees are paid by athletes in conjunction with the AD’s office.
  • Help distribute team rosters, contest schedules, and contest descriptions to all players and parents.
  • Communicate with students and parents per the SMS communication guide.
  • Monitor athlete attendance, behavior, and academic status as communicated by the athletic department.
  • Report all student-athlete injuries to the Athletic Trainer, school nurse, and/or athletic office.
  • Attend all school Athletic Department meetings as assigned by the Athletic Director.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Department.
