DescriptionAs a leader, the school learning commons librarian creates an environment where collaboration, creativity and innovation as well as critical thinking and problem solving thrive. The school librarian is an excellent communicator who instills enthusiasm in others by making them feel that they are important members of a team.
Responsibilities- Maintaining a welcoming and resource-rich environment for students and staff
- Developing and managing the library collection and materials
- Promoting a culture of literacy within the school
- Managing school library operations
- Providing learning opportunities that extend and enrich content-area learning goals
- Supporting and collaborating on the integration of learning commons resources, technology, information literacy skills into lesson plans and units
- Identifying, planning for, and supporting student research needs
The school librarian is a member of the school's Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) and attends bi-monthly meetings of the ILT.
QualificationsA highly qualified candidate will hold appropriate state certification as a school library media specialist (071) and have completed a teacher preparation program and/or educational degree.
