Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Instructional Aide for Special Education at Penn's Grove Middle School. This part-time (5.5 hours per day) position involves supporting students with diverse learning needs in a classroom setting, fostering an inclusive environment that promotes academic and social growth. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff members to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and assist students in achieving their educational goals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing instructional strategies tailored to the individual needs of students with disabilities.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during lessons and activities.
  • Help students with daily living skills, social interactions, and behavioral management as needed.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of academic and behavioral data.
  • Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to develop and adapt instructional materials.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Assist with classroom organization, including preparing materials and setting up learning spaces.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
Requirements

Special education paraprofessionals must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • An associate degree or higher; or
  • Completed at least two years of postsecondary study; or
  • The successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Ability to follow directions and implement instructional strategies as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices is a plus.
  • Must pass background checks and any required state or district assessments.
  • Availability to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate the school schedule.
