Permit Coordinator

Position Salary Range: $50,232 - $76,627

Expected Salary Range: $54,808-$61,984 DOE/DOQ

The Town of Scarborough is seeking a full-time Permit Coordinator within the Planning and Code Enforcement Department. This is a highly organized, customer facing role responsible for a variety of administrative work for the department. The job involves greeting and interacting with the public, administering the permitting process, Planning and Codes software, billing, and payment processing, answering/directing calls and providing information on the operation and services of the Planning and Code Enforcement Department.

Requirements for the position include secretarial and clerical assistance, accuracy, attention to detail, initiative and the ability to work independently. Professionalism and confidentiality is a must in dealing with the public, as well as with fellow employees, both within the Department and throughout town government. This position reports directly to the Planning Director.

Position requirements:
Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of administrative procedures and duties and the ability to deal effectively with a large volume of detailed work and data. Knowledge of computers and the ability to utilize various software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, codes and permitting software. Working knowledge of accounting procedures and budgeting principles. Ability to analyze complex data and to organize and accomplish detailed projects.

Must possess the maturity to relate to a demanding public and communicate with them as well as with department and municipal employees in a productive and professional manner. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; with prior administrative experience, training and/or education in related fields preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the Town.
