The Town of Scarborough is seeking a full-time Technical Support Specialist to join the Information Technology (IT) team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day field service of hardware, software, audiovisual equipment and other peripherals based on standards established by the manager. The Field Technical Support Specialist triages issues presented by end-users via the Help Desk system, escalates issues to the immediate manager and/or the Network & Telecommunications team as appropriate, and conducts ongoing support activities for end-users as assigned.
This position will also assist in conducting training with staff (and students as needed) for core software and hardware including, but not limited to, the Google Suite, Office 365, Windows OS, Chrome OS, Papercut, Epson projection, and other identified systems and services.
The Field Technical Support Specialist for the High School is also responsible for managing the High School Student Help Desk, including recruiting new members, planning training and education, monitoring student progress and work pipeline, providing guidance on special projects, and serving as liaison between students, staff and other parties as needed.
Position requirements:
Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or other related technical discipline required. Comp TIA A+ and Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certifications preferred. Solid knowledge of standard computer hardware and software capabilities, configurations, and limitations as well as experience working in a large K-12 educational environment characterized by satisfactory performance. A minimum of two years of experience with professional technical implementation, practices and procedures.
Excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills; strong interpersonal skills in a team-based development environment; excellent written and oral communications skills. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the Town's discretion.
