Position Summary

Technical Manufacturing Chemist I

We are seeking a Technical Manufacturing Chemist I to join our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit in Scarborough, Maine. In this role, you will produce materials used in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme tests while supporting manufacturing operations, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain manufacturing production schedules.
  • Manufacture critical and non-critical bioreagents according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform in-process quality control testing, including qualifications, inspections, and titrations.
  • Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Investigate production issues and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Develop, create, and execute protocols focused on product and process enhancement.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities within a team environment to ensure uninterrupted production and bioreagent supply.
  • Document manufacturing activities accurately and maintain required records.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and raw material availability to support production demands.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Technical Skills & Experience

Experience with the following laboratory techniques and equipment is preferred:

  • Pipetting techniques
  • Spectrophotometry
  • High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
  • pH meter operation
  • Gel Electrophoresis
  • SDS-PAGE
  • ELISA assays
Competencies
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including:
    • Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software
    • Database systems
    • Manufacturing software systems
    • Word processing applications
Work Environment

This position is based in a laboratory and manufacturing environment and requires adherence to established safety procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
