Chemist I

Location:

Scarborough, ME 04074 (On-site role) Duration: 06 months with possible extension Monday to Friday – 12.00 pm to 8.30 pm

Bachelor's in a Science field or equivalent work experience necessary Lab exp a must - either work experience in a lab (preferred) or prolonged daily exposure while in school

Exp in micro pipetting Using laminar flow hoods Measurement tools - balances, graduated cylinders, and serological pipettes MUST be able to work in a cold room 4-6 hrs a day. Cold room is defined as 2-8 degrees Celsius, refrigerator temps. Jackets are provided by client as part of their PPE Steel Toe/Safety Shoes are required.

Interviews - will be one round via Teams video call, may go to 2nd round based on candidate pool. Teams Video for 2nd round as well.

Basic Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prior Experience in the following areas:

  • Pipette
  • Spectrophotometry
  • HPLC
  • pH meters
  • Gel Electrophoresis of SDS Page
  • ELISA assays
Competencies

Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision. Skill in using computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, manufacturing, and word processing software.

Responsibilities

Maintains and supports the production schedule Investigate problem areas and areas of desirable improvement Undertakes new procedures and observes proper safety precautions Responsible for in-process QC testing of manufacturing material as it relates to qualifications, quality inspections, and titration. Maintains quality systems and proper GMP/GLP Creates and follows protocols designed around product improvement Responsible for making critical and non-critical bioreagents for use in product and manufacturing processes using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Works in a team setting and coordinates manufacturing efforts based on a set production schedule and maintains the raw bioreagent supply as needed to support this schedule.
