Actalent is hiring for a Quality/Manufacturing Engineer in the Scarborough, ME area!
Job DescriptionThis role focuses on improving manufacturing quality and reliability by identifying root causes of failures, optimizing equipment and processes, and ensuring documentation and procedures meet regulatory and safety standards. The Quality Engineer collaborates closely with engineers, technicians, and operators to drive continuous improvement, enhance compliance, and support a robust manufacturing environment.
ResponsibilitiesIdentify root causes of manufacturing failures using structured problem-solving methodologies and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Evaluate machine logic, electromechanical systems, and process controls to troubleshoot equipment issues and restore optimal performance.
Support the design and execution of experiments, including validation activities, testing, and data analysis, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze current manufacturing equipment and processes for suitability and efficiency, and develop detailed plans for process and equipment improvements.
Create and revise manufacturing documents, specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety instructions, validation protocols, risk assessments, and other technical documents to ensure compliant, efficient, and safe operations.
Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to develop and implement solutions and improvements in materials, equipment, and processes as needed.
Actively participate in cross-functional teams to support continual improvement, safety, and regulatory compliance across the manufacturing operation.
Provide training to technicians and operators on Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistent, safe, and compliant execution of manufacturing activities.
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
Ability to apply structured problem-solving techniques to identify root causes of manufacturing issues.
Familiarity with database software used for managing production, quality, or technical data.
Familiarity with CAD software for reviewing or supporting engineering designs.
Familiarity with development software and related tools used in engineering or process development.
Familiarity with internet-based tools and platforms for research, collaboration, and documentation.
Familiarity with inventory software used in manufacturing or production environments.
Familiarity with manufacturing software used to monitor, control, or document production processes.
Familiarity with project management software to plan, track, and coordinate engineering and improvement activities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and tracking of engineering or quality metrics.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word for creating and maintaining technical documents, SOPs, and reports.
Familiarity with a variety of material testing and measuring methods to assess product quality and process performance.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in regulated environments such as GMP, FDA, ISO, or USDA-regulated manufacturing operations.
Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as Minitab for data-driven decision-making and process analysis.
Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and ISO regulations and their application within a manufacturing setting.
The role is based in a manufacturing environment that emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. You will work with production equipment, electromechanical systems, and process control technologies while collaborating with engineers, technicians, and operators on the manufacturing floor and in office settings. The position involves regular use of software tools, including database, CAD, development, inventory, manufacturing, project management applications, and Microsoft Office.
The environment supports structured experimentation, validation activities, and detailed documentation practices to maintain compliant and efficient operations.
This is a Contract position based out of Scarborough, ME.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
