Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate – Full-Time, Monday‑Friday, Maine Medical Center Electrophysiology Lab
Maine Health Maine Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) team. This is a new dedicated service and offers the opportunity to practice at the top of licensure, providing comprehensive, procedure‑related care for patients undergoing a wide range of electrophysiology interventions.
About the OpportunityThe APP will work collaboratively with EP physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver exceptional patient care across the continuum‑preprocedure evaluation, intraprocedure support, and postprocedure management. This role includes both clinical practice and procedural responsibilities, with opportunities for expanded independent practice based on training and demonstrated competency.
This is a Monday through Friday position located in the Electrophysiology Lab at Maine Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities Pre Procedure Care- Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations for scheduled EP procedures
- Obtain and document informed consent
- Evaluate pre‑procedural readiness and coordinate care plans
- Provide advanced procedural support including:
- Vascular access
- Incision creation and closure
- Device pocket management
- Assistance during ablations, device implantations, and other EP interventions
- Serve as a first assist to the proceduralist during EP cases
- Conduct postprocedure assessments and manage recovery/discharge
- Document clinical progress, complications, and patient outcomes
- Provide patient instructions and coordinate followup care
(based on experience, credentialing, and demonstrated competency)
- Device checks and interrogations
- Certain EP procedures or components performed autonomously
- Procedure‑related evaluations and decisions within defined protocols
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Physician Associate
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in cardiology, critical care, cardiothoracic surgery, or electrophysiology strongly preferred
- Demonstrated competency in procedural skills such as vascular access and suturing
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work in a fast‑paced procedural environment
- Eligibility for Maine licensure and hospital credentialing
