Position Summary

Nurse Practitioners work collaboratively with all members of the care team to provide world‑class service to patients and staff. NP with a current license, DEA#, and granted clinical privileges will deliver medical services necessary to meet patients’ needs under the guidance of the Practice Medical Director and/or supervising physician. NP will communicate directly with supervising physicians, medical staff, nursing staff, and other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care requirements.

  • Elicits a detailed history, performs a physician examination, identifies problems, and records the pertinent data.
  • Creates a treatment plan and implements components, including prescribing medication.
  • Performs or interprets routine diagnostic studies such as laboratory procedures, common radiologic studies, and electrocardiographic tracings.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures within scope, such as injections, immunizations, wound care, incision and drainage, treatment of verrucae, follow‑up of simple fractures, removal of splinters, and simple laceration repairs.
  • Instructs, counsels, and prescribes for patients regarding diet, disease prevention, therapy, growth, development, family planning, and situational adjustment.
  • Assists in inpatient settings by performing patient rounds, recording progress notes, and implementing therapeutic plans with the supervising physician.
  • Assists in the delivery of services in continuing‑care facilities, reviewing and monitoring treatment plans.
  • Performs independent evaluation and therapeutic procedures essential for life‑threatening situations.
  • Facilitates appropriate referrals and maintains awareness of community health facilities, agencies, and resources.
  • Prescribes and dispenses schedules II, III, IIIN, IV, and V substances plus all legend drugs under medical delegation.
  • Provides care at all Martin's Point Health Care facilities and the After‑Hours Clinic in accordance with current contracts.
  • Collaborates with the physician supervisor to work within the appropriate delegation of medical tasks.
  • Documents capability and continued competency for privileges granted by the Medical Executive Committee.
  • Participates in daily huddles and regular team meetings to improve workflows and patient outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Practice Medical Director.
Education & Experience

• Two years of experience in a paneled Primary Care Provider role.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.

• Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program.

Required Licenses & Certifications
  • State Registered Nurse Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license
  • ANA Board certification (ANCC or AANP)
  • BLS Certification
  • DEA License
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and medical care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods, and techniques of nurse practitioners for ongoing patient care.
  • Skill in taking medical history and interpreting findings.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
