Lab Technician I (Microbiology) Thu - Mon

Shift schedule:
Thursday through Monday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Our Scarborough, ME laboratory is seeking an entry‑level Microbiology Lab Technician to join the team. The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance with SGS’s analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’s analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Perform routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Input and maintain technical information as needed to support laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

• High school diploma (Required)
• Associate’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or similar scientific discipline (Strongly preferred)
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Strongly preferred)
• Advanced English language skills (Required)
• Strong mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

The expected salary range for this position is $20 - $22 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
