Sales Associate - Building Materials

As a Customer Service Associate, you combine top‑notch customer service skills with genuine care for people to help customers feel comfortable while shopping at Lowe’s. This role is ideal for those who want to engage with customers and help them solve their home improvement challenges.

• Welcome customers, answer questions, and deliver friendly and professional customer service.
• Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
• Down‑stock merchandise by finding empty areas on shelves and replenishing supplies.
• Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
• Cross‑functionally train in other areas of the store to help deliver the best customer service.
• Prepare merchandise in your department based on customer needs (e.g., tint and mix paint, cut and thread pipe, cut and bundle wood, cut drywall, cut blinds).
• Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• 6 months experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• 6 months experience using common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets.
• Reading, writing, and performing basic arithmetic (addition and subtraction).
• Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted or 25+ pounds with or without accommodation.

• 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
• Bi‑lingual skills.
• Certification in trade related to department (e.g., hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, lumber/building materials).

Environmental factors vary by location. You may work in both indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to extreme heat or cold, wet, damp, humid, windy, or drafty conditions. Noise may be constant or intermittent. Lifting methods vary based on role, weight, and volume; associates must follow guidelines limiting single lifts to 75 pounds and using team lifts as needed.

Regular travel is not required, but occasional travel may be necessary for meetings, training, or to support neighboring stores.

Pay Range: $16.00 – $17.95 per hour. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including position offered, location, education, training, and experience.
