    M-F, day shift

Compensation Range: $38.00 to $50.00 per hour. This range is regarding base pay only and does not include benefits and potential bonuses. Overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographical location, skillset, education, and experience.

Our Construction Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Construction Equipment Shop Foreman for our Scarborough, ME branch. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and preparing construction equipment while providing technical support and mentorship to shop technicians. The Shop Foreman performs quality control inspections, manages shop tooling and supply inventory, oversees technician training and certifications, and works closely with management to prioritize repairs, reduce equipment downtime, and maximize shop productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Repair & Diagnostics (60%)
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair construction equipment, including excavators, skid steers, loaders, and pavers.
  • Inspect mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to identify issues and determine repair solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair recommendations, and costs to support operational decisions.
Technical Support, Training & Quality Control (20%)
  • Support technicians with advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Provide training and mentorship to promote safe, high-quality workmanship.
  • Perform quality inspections and testing to verify repair effectiveness and reliability.
Shop Operations & Inventory Management (20%)
  • Manage shop tooling, equipment, and technician training certifications.
  • Maintain inventory of shop supplies, parts, fluids, fuel, and consumables.
  • Support shop organization, operational efficiency, and adherence to Alta's Guiding Principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing construction equipment in a service, dealership, or related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, powertrains, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and equipment components.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software, electronic troubleshooting tools, and specialty tooling.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team development abilities.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with maintenance management, inventory, or service reporting systems.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
  • Relevant technical certifications or manufacturer training preferred.
  • Ability to successfully train and mentor others
  • Computer Skills a plus
    - Microsoft Office Suite, eService

    Tech, Prosis, Etc.
  • Language Skills
    - Intermediate:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Reasoning Ability
    - High:
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Physical/Sensory Functions:
