General Office Clerk
Fox Meadow Elementary School is seeking a dependable, organized, and customer-service-oriented General Office Clerk to join our main office team. This individual plays an important role in creating a welcoming environment for students, families, staff, and visitors while supporting the daily operations of our busy elementary school office. The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player with excellent communication and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Position
Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the Principal, the General Office Clerk supports the efficient operation of the school's main office by serving as a first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and community members. The position performs a variety of clerical, organizational, and customer service functions essential to the daily operation of the school.
Essential Job Functions:
- Greets and assists students, parents, staff, and visitors in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Responds to phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries, providing information regarding attendance, school procedures, supplies, and general school operations.
- Serves as backup to the attendance clerk and school secretary by answering attendance calls, recording student attendance in Infinite Campus, and generating attendance reports as needed.
- Assists teachers and administrators with ordering, receiving, organizing, and distributing textbooks, classroom materials, and supplies.
- Maintains office and paper supply inventories and places orders to ensure adequate stock throughout the school year.
- Sorts and distributes incoming mail, packages, and deliveries and prepares outgoing mail and courier pickups.
- Prepares, copies, and distributes documents, forms, and other materials for administrators and instructional staff.
- Maintains organized office files and records.
- Assists with school-wide projects and events, including student handbook distribution, student IDs, event preparation, and other office initiatives.
- Monitors office equipment, including copiers and printers, and coordinates maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to foster a positive, organized, and supportive school environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the school.

- Proficiency with computers and standard office software, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to learn and effectively use student information systems such as Infinite Campus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and school matters.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Qualifications:
- Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills for successful performance will be considered. Typical qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior office or school office experience preferred.
- Experience working with the public in a customer-service environment preferred.
- Proficiency with computers, office technology, and standard office equipment.
- Friendly, professional demeanor and a commitment to providing outstanding service to the school community.
Schedule:
35 hours per week, September through June (10-month position)
Civil Service Requirement:
This is a Competitive Class Civil Service position. Candidates must either hold permanent status in the title of Clerk or be reachable on the current Westchester County Civil Service eligible list for the title.
