Job Summary
JCC Mid-Westchester is seeking an experienced Swim Team Coach, which includes overseeing training sessions for the Stingrays swim team.
This role encompasses coaching responsibilities, swim meet management, administrative tasks, and other duties delegated by the Head Swim Coach and/or Director of Aquatics. The Swim team coach will play a pivotal role in advancing and nurturing both the USA swim competitive and noncompetitive recreation swim programs.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching, Training, Meet & Event Management:
- Assist in coaching the Stingrays swim team and pre-swim team program under the supervision of the Head Coach and Director of Aquatics.
- Work with the coaching team to implement seasonal, weekly, and daily workout plans
- Track and evaluate the progress of swimmers
- Facilitate on-deck training sessions tailored for distinct age groups, concentrating on elementary and middle school ages
- Emphasizing skill enhancement, technique refinement, and competitive tactics.
- Attend assigned swim meets, championships, clinics, camps, and training trips.
- Assist in managing meet entries (individual and team) and competition logistics.
- Foster team spirit, sportsmanship, and a positive environment.
- Monitor swimmer progress, provide constructive feedback, and motivate athletes to achieve goals.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure alignment with club values and training philosophies
- Passion for athlete development and swimming.
- Strong understanding of stroke mechanics, training principles, and competition strategies.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving team needs and schedules.
- Commitment to fostering a growth-oriented, inclusive team culture
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build trust, engagement, and a winning team mentality.
Part-Time, flexible, about 25/hours/week between the hours of Mon-Fri 4-8pm and weekend mornings between 7-11am
Minimum Qualifications:
Certifications, Education and Experience
- Maintain valid USA Swimming coaching certifications (either prior to the start date or acquired within the initial weeks of employment).
- Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid Certification. This can be done after hiring; JCCMW will provide necessary training.
- At least one year prior coaching experience preferred
- Experience coaching school-age children
- Customer service oriented and results driven
Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing or walking for various lengths of time.
Salary:
$35,000 - $45,000
