Job Overview

Experienced Scientist (100%) – Focus: material identification and characterization for cell and gene therapy drug products at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

• Conduct material defect and particle investigations using high‑end spectroscopy instruments (FT‑IR, SEM‑EDX) and optical equipment.
• Perform analyses in a GMP‑regulated environment, supporting analytical investigations for material and particle identification.
• Prepare analytical reports and technical presentations.
• Manage selected instruments, coordinate maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Issue and review work instructions and SOPs.
• Communicate with internal customers and external suppliers.
• Work in a team‑oriented environment promoting delivery and innovation.

• Experienced analyst or scientist with strong practical background in spectroscopy and microscopy.
• Work experience in a GxP‑regulated industry (e.g., food or pharmaceutical), ideally with SAP.
• Knowledge of biosafety class 2 compounds handling.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills in German and English.
• Ability to work in a regulated environment with urgency.
• Interest in becoming a technical subject matter expert in material science.

• Machine learning and software solutions for analytical applications.
• Analytical reasoning, chemistry, CMC, data quality, drug discovery development, research documents, and related skills.
